Life update and looking forward to 2020
It's been a while since my last post, so I just wanted to share all of the crazy things that have happened in the last few months. Can you believe it's already a new year?? I feel like the last couple months of 2019 disappeared!
October was a very busy month for me. We started the beginning of the month welcoming a new member into our family; our 2016 Hyundai Elantra, affectionately called "Eve". The circumstances were not the most ideal (are they ever, though??), but we are happy with her! Plus, she's great on gas mileage.
About a week later, I boarded a couple of planes very early in the morning to go visit my twin up in New England. I spent five days with her shopping, playing with the kitties, eating lots of yummy food, going to see Lion King on Broadway (which was nothing short of amazing), and catching up like we'd never been apart for more than five minutes. We had a few days with her before we all spent a few days up in Ohio with my folks for Christmas.
My first class for the fall (aptly called Student Personnel Services in Higher Ed) ended then and my second one (Data Analysis) started shortly after. I won't bore you all with the details, but let's just say that I have officially beat my "longest written paper" record as of the fall 2019 semester :) I start my spring classes on the 14th so I'm happy to have a little break. I'm happy to report that I am still maintaining straight A's and if all goes well, I will be graduating THIS December! It's insane how fast the time has gone.
November FLEW by, and our Thanksgiving here in Kentucky was memorable at best, thanks to the rampant stomach bug that swept through Berea. I was struck down the Monday night before Thanksgiving to the day before, not quite 100% by Thanksgiving but mostly better. Justin was hit Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day. By Black Friday we felt well enough to re-enter society. LOL. Our Thanksgiving meal was that weekend, and it was spectacular!
And finally, we celebrated our second anniversary :) I took a couple extra vacation days from work and we sneaked away to a little cabin just outside of Red River Gorge and did nothing but cook, watch movies, be lazy, and bundle up- it was chilly!! As always, we are looking forward to another year of married life, in all the twists and turns it no doubt has to offer 💕
In the meantime, I am back at work today (woo!!). Overall, my 3 week vacation was wonderful and restful, full of a little bit of something and mostly a whole lot of NOTHING! After all, that is what vacation is....doing as little as possible?
I hope you all had restful, fun, cheery, and merry Christmases. 2020 will be a big year for me! Aside from hopefully graduating with my Master's degree at the end of the year (yay!!), I'll be turning 30. It feels a little strange to be saying goodbye to my 20's- I LOVED my 20's! The old adage is that the best is yet to come, and while I do believe that, I know that whatever happens, the Lord will be faithful and provide. I know I still have a lot to learn and experience.
Another big goal of ours is to spend Christmas 2020 down under!! It's a big goal, but we're confident we can make it happen :) Financially, 2019 was a bit of a whirlwind with a lot of adjustments and learning curves, but we have reigned in on the crazy- we hope!- and have plans set in place. So we will see what happens.
I'm not sure how much I'll be contributing to this blog in the new year, but I'll do my best to post whenever I can! I like having this to look back on certain times and seasons in my life. Now let's get to gettin'!
P.S. Have a picture of Yoda and Wiley each :)
