Waiting for us to sit down

Recently, my kitty, Yoda, has been really fussy in the mornings. The fussiness seems to intensify when I'm in the kitchen, getting ready in the mornings. Constantly meowing and peeping, under my feet to the point where I'm almost always tripping over her, pawing at me when I'm sitting having coffee at the table with Justin, wanting, begging to sit on my lap, just....fussy! Needy, I'd even call it. At times it's really gotten on my nerves!

One morning, Justin said, "Maybe she's just waiting for you to sit down."

It's a good thing she's cute, huh?

This was taken last summer when I was working from home :)

So, after Justin leaves for work in the morning, I have started to take my coffee to the living room and sit on the couch, with my Bible app and my journal. I do my reading and sit and journal and/or pray. And guess what? Yoda is usually calm by this time! Sometimes, she even sits with me and purrs and kneads 😊

This morning, during my quiet on-the-couch time, I couldn't help but think that that's how God may feel about us, too. Let's face it, life is just CRAZY BUSY. At least it has been for us lately! But we get so busy with life and stuff that, more often than not, maybe God, just like my little Yoda, is just waiting for us to sit down.

I can tell you for certain, that on those days where I've had that quiet time with God, it has made a world of difference.

I'm thankful for the reminder, via my sweetheart kitty Yoda, to just slow down, and sit down with God. I'm going to try to "sit down" more, whether it's with Him, or with people I love, or even just on my own. The quiet, unrushed moments are needed refreshment for my soul in a world that is constantly throwing noise at me in all directions. We all need those quiet, unrushed moments.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest...

                        -Matthew 11:28

Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.

                        -Mark 6:31b

My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.
