A space to call our own
WE FINALLY MOVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, after months of phone calls, frustrations, moving furniture, waiting waiting waiting WAITING, this week, Grow Appalachia hopped the Stephenson Hall ship and moved to our humble space, just above Papaleno's. Which, let me say, is absolutely torturous at the end of the day- the smells are just to. die. for. But while I was heading home today, it got me thinking about something: I've been in the working world for a while now, and I've never had a space to call my own. I'm not complaining or bragging; it's just at my other jobs it was either not needed or I just never asked. Which is fine. I was fine with it. But when I came on as a VISTA and we were discussing the new space, I was told that there were spots already designated for us (myself and the other two VISTAs). To be honest, I was really touched. Something so simple as a place to work was already waiting for us. I'd never had that before, and now I do.
I suppose the point of all of this is really simple: I'm thankful. I'm thankful to be where I am, to have my own space and technology to effectively accomplish my tasks, even if it's just for a short time. It's the little things, really. I challenge you to take some time to be thankful and reflect on what you do have. Even when you have so little, it's still so much more to someone else.
Now I'm going to do a wee bit of online shopping to hopefully find some cute things to supplement my space! ^_^ And listen to for KING & COUNTRY's new album (which I strongly recommend. Seriously. Spotify. Do it. You won't be sorry).
Do it.
