Sunday thoughts

Sunday afternoon.  The windows are open, for KING & COUNTRY's new album is playing, a loaf of banana bread is baking, and tomorrow morning I'm off to Abingdon, Virginia, for four days, to visit one of our partner sites and get their high tunnels under construction.  Now if I could just motivate myself to pack...

I've been at this for just over 2 weeks now.  Guys....this is the real deal.  I am so immensely blessed to be a part of this organization and this work.  I really can't wait to see how these next few months are going to unfold for me.  While I have no clear expectations yet, I am optimistic.  I have some amazingly supportive superiors and peers who are looking out for me, as well as each other.  It's a breath of fresh air, honestly.  I get to walk home, put on my iPod, and just take in the beauty and sounds of Berea at the end of each work day.  I haven't had to put gas in my car for three weeks!   I'm working for an organization that is truly and genuinely trying to do some good in this world... how amazing is that?! Even if this just ends at my 12-month commitment, I will have been fortunate to have been a part of this when I was.

When I have rough days, I'll come back to this, this post, this moment, where I had nothing to do but smell the banana bread and sit and thank God for this, all of this.

I took this picture on Thursday morning at one of our sites.  I just love it!  New day, new start, new accomplishments.
