Just do it! [The Sequel]
Back in January I wrote a post, "Just Do It." You can find it here.
Here's the abridged version: If you are at a season in your life, whichever aspect, be it personal, your family, your job, your living situation, your relationships, whatever, and you sense deeply, feel it waayy down in your gut, this un-ignorable nudge of I NEED TO MAKE A CHANGE, then here's the trick: JUST DO IT.
I haven't necessarily felt the "need" to make a change, so to speak, but lately I have been thinking about my health. Warning: Some of this may be a bit TMI, so if talking about weight, eating habits, vitamins, BMI, etc, is not your jive, then feel free to skip ahead to the end. For a 26, almost 27 year old, I think I'm pretty healthy:
Given AAALLLL of the above, I decided to make a change.
I signed up for a Couch to 5k program here at the college! 3 days a week for 30 minutes. Two crazy months. I start Monday!
Stay tuned!!!!!

- I tend to eat fairly well- the only kicker is living in Richmond with SO MANY options for food that it's tempting to go out all the time. But, in general, I think I eat well. I love my veggies, drink way more water than I used to, and try to avoid red meat (Not cut out entirely, just occasionally a burger or steak here and there) and processed stuff. I also love my dessert and chips and salsa, so you win some, you lose some ;)
- I'm in much better shape than I was in college. I do Refit once a week but lately, due to life busy-ness, sickness, etc, I've missed a few weeks in a row. When it's nice outside I try to go for walks during my lunch break.
- My job keeps me in an office most of the time, so I do have a slight Vitamin D deficiency. Now I take a tablet once a day for that.
- I rarely get sick. If I do, it's a cold or occasional "bug" of some kind. I don't have any allergies or chronic conditions and I believe myself to be in "average" physical shape. Other than my Vitamin D, I'm not on any medications, and I *very occasionally* drink alcohol.
- In general, I am, most days, happy with the way that I look and feel.
However:
- Certain health issues, such as high blood pressure and memory-related illnesses, do run in my family.
- I plateaued in weight about 2 years ago and have not lost any since. I don't tend to think of BMI charts as accurate, but after consulting several different versions of them, it appears that my weight currently is borderline in the "overweight" range. (Barely borderline, but it's still a little unsettling nonetheless)
- Ya know...I just want to stay healthy??
Given AAALLLL of the above, I decided to make a change.
